Day 2 Tuesday Nov 5
When You Come Into the Land (Deut. 26:1)
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport to be met and assisted by a CHT representative and our Israeli guide, who will accompany us during our entire stay in Israel After breakfast we visit Old Jaffa, once the gateway to the land of Israel. Walk through the port from which Jonah the Prophet tried to escape the Lord’s command and stand at the site that commemorates where Peter brought Tabitha back to life (Acts 9:36-43). Proceed to our hotel Dinner and overnight: Tel Aviv

Day 3, Wednesday Nov 6
Jewish-Arab Co-existence Seminar, Mt. Carmel, Haifa. After breakfast, we travel by private motor coach along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea to Caesarea Maritima, where Gentiles first heard the Good News and were baptized (Acts 8) Participate in a fascinating seminar on Arab-Jewish coexistence at Givat Haviva, including a visit to an Israeli Arab village Then visit Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged King Ahab and the prophets of Baal (I Kings 18). From the roof of the Monastery of the Mukhraka, Beautiful view of the Jezreel Plain Dinner and overnight: Haifa

Day 4, Thursday Nov 7
Megiddo, Nazareth, Cana, Tiberias
Visit the incredible excavations of ancient Megiddo, site of the future Battle of Armageddon described in the Book of Revelations; explore its many layers of civilization dating back to Canaanite times, due to its strategic location. Walk through its fascinating ancient aqueduct (This excavation is also the backdrop to James Michener’s novel, The Source) Explore the magnificently excavated ancient city of Tzippori (Sepphoris); discover ancient beauty and evidence of a community in which Jews and Romans once coexisted peacefully We continue to Nazareth, the site of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26-38). There we enjoy some time in Nazareth Village, where the Bible comes to life. We continue through Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle (John 2:1- 11), to the Sea of Galilee Dinner and overnight: Tiberias

Day 5, Friday Nov 8
Sea of Galilee
Golan Heights, Baptismal Site Following breakfast, we take a moving Sea of Galilee cruise on a fisherman’s boat. A brief scripture reading and devotional on board brings to life the experiences of Jesus and the fishermen disciples. We then visit the ancient boat from the time of Jesus that was found at Ginnosar. Our morning travels then take us to important sites of Jesus’ Ministry in the Galilee. We visit Tabgha, the site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes (Mark 6:30-44) and then to Mount of the Beatitudes overlooking the Sea, where we recite the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:1-12). In Capernaum we will visit the ruins of an ancient synagogue and Peter’s home.We proceed to the Banias, ancient Caesarea Philippi, one of the main sources of the Jordan River and where Jesus was recognized as the Messiah by His disciples (Matt. 16:13-20) We then conclude our day at the Jordan River Baptismal Site near the southern site of the Sea of Galilee Dinner and overnight: Tiberias

Day 6, Saturday Nov 9
Jordan River Valley
Ascent to Jerusalem, Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Bethlehem. After breakfast, we travel south along the fertile Jordan Valley southward, your guide will point out the agricultural restoration of the “Land of Milk and Honey,” the kibbutz system, and Israel’s intricate irrigation development. As we enter the Holy City of Jerusalem, we ascend the Mount of Olives for a wonderful panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Walking down the Mount of Olives, we reach the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was arrested (Matt. 26:36-58); here we see the old olive trees and join together in prayer. We then spend the remainder of the day surrounding the birth of Christ with a visit to Bethlehem, including Shepherd's Field, where the angels announced the birth of Jesus, and the Church of the Nativity, that stands upon the site where Jesus was born (Luke 2:4-20). Day 7, Friday Nov 10
Southern Steps
Old City of Jerusalem, Mt. Zion, After breakfast we enter the Old City and gaze over the Southern Wall excavations of the Temple Mount, where Jesus taught scripture (John 7:14-30) and drove away the money-lenders. We stop at the Western Wall, the holiest place for Jews. We then walk across the Temple Mount (security permitting), where the Dome of the Rock now stands to reach St. Stephen's Gate. Here we visit the Judgment Hall of Pilate, to hear of those who conspired against Him and be reminded of His brutal beating and humiliation (Matt. 27) Then we will see the Pool of Bethesda and raise our voices in song in St. Ann’s Church. We then walk along the Via Dolorosa, His Way of Suffering, via the exotic bazaar to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. We proceed through the newly rebuilt Jewish Quarter and Roman Cardo. Finally, we visit the area of Golgotha (place of the skull) and the Garden Tomb, where we celebrate the resurrection with communion and a time of praise Dinner and overnight: Jerusalem

Day 8, Monday Nov 11
Inn of the Good Samaritan
Masada, Dead Sea, Kumran After breakfast we depart for the Dead Sea Region, the lowest place on earth Stop on the way at the Inn of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) and see the beautiful mosaics housed there from Christian churches. We ascend by cable car to the mountaintop fortress of Masada. Here our guide will share the history of its Jewish inhabitants’ famous last stand against the Romans. We then stop for a relaxing float in the amazing Dead Sea. Now it is time to visit Qumran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered Dinner and overnight: Dead Sea

Day 9, Tuesday Nov 12
Mount Zion, Interreligious Encounter
New City In the Rabbinic Tunnels (visit based on availability), we walk along the foundations stones of the Temple Mount. Passing by the Protestant Cemetery on Mount Zion, we visit King David’s Tomb and the "Upper Room," site of the Last Supper We then take part in a special Interreligious Encounter on Mount Zion featuring Jewish and Arab presenters. In the afternoon, we enjoy a panoramic tour of the New City of Jerusalem, including views of the Supreme Court and the Knesset (Parliament) Finally we visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, for a needed reminder of what the Jews have suffered as a people. After our farewell dinner at a Middle Eastern restaurant in the Israeli Arab village of Abu Ghosh, we travel to the airport to depart for our flight homeward

Important Note: Although the itinerary above obviously emphasizes the spiritual aspects of this marvelous country, our guides are also experts in, and passionate about, the miracle of the return of the Jews and the restoration of the state of Israel. This fact, along with many modern day topics (military, politics, education, and other cultural aspects), may be woven into the commentary, at your request, in order to give you well-rounded information.
